Aiden Minton was recognized with a ROAR Award at the Salem School Board meeting on Oct. 12.

Minton was nominated for the award because of his PSAT score. He qualified as a National Merit Semifinalist and is now a National Merit Finalist.

Aiden scored with the top one percent of students who took the test across the country.

“It’s a pretty special accomplishment to have someone in our school corporation to have qualified for that,” said Brent Minton who had the honor of presenting Aiden with his award at the school board meeting.

Salem Superintendent Job Acton agreed with Minton.

“It’s a pretty amazing honor for Aiden,” he said, “but it’s also a testament to all the teachers that he has had working his way through school. It’s a pretty cool achievement for the Minton family but also for Salem Community Schools.”
