The Salem Community Schools board held a public hearing regarding the contract for the incoming superintendent, which, as of this printing, has not been publicly named.

The contract will pay the superintendent $115,000 a year for three years, running from March 1, 2020, through June 30, 2023. The school board will be able to consider a possible increase in the salary amount in June each school year. The school board will pay all but $1 of the insurance premium for the superintendent and all eligible dependents’ coverage by the group health, dental, term life and long-term disability policies, approximately $28,198.32.

No members of the public spoke during the hearing.

The school will hold a special, public meeting at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, to officially sign the contract with the new superintendent in the Salem High School presentation room. A reception will immediately follow the meeting, along with the Salem High School Pep Band Pops concert.
