SHS grads honored as Lion Legacies

Being from a small town doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t achieve big things. That was the common theme amongst all of the 2018 Lion Legacy inductees on Friday.

Five new members were inducted into the Lion Legacy by the Salem Education Foundation, all Salem graduates who went on to do outstanding work in their respective fields. There was a common thread among some of the awardees in that three of them were doctors, and they all are members of the Class in 1994.

They spoke at the awards dinner April 6, but also spoke to the current high school students and spent the day reminiscing at their old stomping grounds, getting a tour of the school and speaking in class rooms.

This was the ninth year for the Lion Legacy event, which is a fundraiser for the Salem Education Foundation. The SEF awards approximately $75,000 in scholarships every year.
