SHS Science Olympiad team heads to state

The Salem High School Science Olympiad team placed fourth and medaled in nine of 23 events at competition this past Saturday. Eighty percent of the team earned a medal in at least one event.

First place medals went to: Jax Vogt and Chase Wheeler in Astronomy, Kielynn and Elise Tally in Write to Do it and Rina Jiang and Rebecca McKinley in Microbe Mission. Second place medals were given to: Evan Shelby and Kaitlyn Colglazier in Anatomy and Physiology, Kielynn and Elise Tally in Material Science and Sidney Smith and Hannah Walker in Disease Detectives. Third place medals went to: Loralee Potter and Levi Arney in Hovercraft and Optics and Rina Jiang and Hannah Walker in Forensics.

The group will compete at state on March 17 at Indiana University.
