Free tulip and red oak trees

A tree in front of a house helps increase the property value.

Trees help clean the air.

Trees prevent soil erosion.

Attendees at Leader Publishing Company’s Spring Home, Garden and Business Expo are always excited to pick up a free tree. This spring the show did not go on, but the tree giveaway will.

The official state tree of Indiana, the tulip tree and red oak trees will be available this year.

LPC is thinking “outside the office,” with a sidewalk event to hand out trees on Friday, May 22.

The sidewalk sale will be held rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can pick up a tree (while supplies last), courtesy of Vallonia State Nursery, one per family. There will be free newspapers as well.

The Moments in Time historical magazine will be available for $10 and graduation gift packages for $15. The packages feature certificates for a car wash from Nice N Clean Auto Wash, pizza from B&B Family Pizzaria, T-shirt from Lincks Clothing & Shoes, and a 3-month subscription to The Salem Leader and The Salem Democrat.

If you’re planning a yard sale, pick up a coupon to advertise it for only $5.
