“Good product for a fair price” is the motto at Girod’s Pumpkin Patch.

The locally owned Amish farm is located at 9839 E. Garrison Hollow Road and just opened for the season this past weekend.

John and Amelia Girod moved to Washington County from northern Indiana about 10 years ago and have been operating their own pumpkin, produce and flower business since 2015.

“We have produce in the summer, around mid to late June,” said John.

In the fall, they have pumpkins, mums, Indian corn, broom corn and Amish baked goods for sale.

They even have some baby farm animals for guests to see and pet.

John said this year, for the first time, they are also planning to sell Christmas trees and wreaths.

While they don’t grow the trees, they do grow all the produce they sell.

“Everything is grown naturally to enhance the color and the stems,” he said.

He said they like what they do, but it isn’t all about the money. They enjoy watching the kids pick out their pumpkins.

“I like it simple and I like it local,” he said.

Amelia makes the fresh baked goods and said there are fresh pies available every Saturday.

“We strive to please our customers,” said John. “If it’s not right, we want to know.”

The business is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. They are closed on Sundays.
