New realty office opens on the square

Although she is opening a new business in Washington County, she is not new to the job.

Kym Young and business partner Brian Bell are opening a new realty business in Salem. Young has been a realtor since 2004 and has worked for several companies, including RE/MAX and Hoosier Realty.

Last October, she began working for Exit Realty One. 

She said she had heard good things about the company and was excited to get a chance to work for them.

“They pay higher commission, with an opportunity to get up to 90 percent,” she said. “They are the fastest growing realty company in the United States.”

Young said she really likes that the company offers training for agents.

“They provide the tools, but focus on the agent,” she said.

“It’s all about the individual.”

Young was born and raised in Washington County until she was 13, when she moved to Paoli. She spent 11 1/2 years in the military before moving back to Indiana in 1995.

She worked in the insurance field before transitioning into realty.

She said the most rewarding part of her job is all the people she gets to meet.

“Every person you meet is different,” she said. “I am a people person. I like meeting them and helping them.”

One reason Young said she decided to open a realty office is to make the money herself.

“I want to hire 10 agents,” she said. “I’m very ethical and I want a good office and a staff I can worth with to train them and help them make money.”

She said she will be available to her staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Young said she has a business plan and is excited to see it come into action. When the location came open on the square, Young said she felt it was meant to be. 

“I’m really excited about this location,” she said. “Everything has just fallen into place!”

Exit Realty One is located on the southwest corner of the square.

They also have an office in New Albany, which is owned by Bell.
