The Wall That Heals schedule of events

The Wall That Heals arrived in Washington County Wednesday morning. It is a traveling replica of the Vietnam War Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. In addition to the wall is an education center that will be available for the public to view.

The Wall That Heals will officially open Thursday morning at 8 a.m. and be open day and night Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It will close at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The opening ceremony will be held Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. at the YMCA, the place where the wall will be located for the next few days. The ceremony will include Master of Ceremonies Wes Jones, the Indiana National Guard, Boy Scout Pack 29, DAR - Christopher Harrison Chapter and several guest speakers.

The closing ceremony will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday and will include the American Legion, VFW, Boy Scout Pack 29, Jimmy Applegate, Stewart Boaz, guest speaker Anne Terrell and a closing prayer by Rick Main.

Saturday at 5:30 p.m. will be a POW/MIA ceremony at The Wall That Heals at the YMCA. Boy Scout Pack 29 will be part of this program, along with Jones and Boaz.

Other events planned include field trips with local schools visiting the wall Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
