Childcare licensing requirements changing in July

Local meeting June 20

All local childcare providers and interested members of the public are invited to an informational meeting and discussion with Debbie Sampson, Child Care Home Licensing Manager, and Pam Roadruck, both from Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA).

This discussion is around the House Enrolled Act No. 1073, outlined below. There will be changes in what is required to be submitted to the state to obtain a child care license.  These requirement changes will have a direct impact on municipalities.

A local meeting will take place Wednesday, June 20, 10:15 -11:30 a.m. at the Salem- Washington Township Public Library.

As of July 1, 2018, the following requirements must be met in order for programs to be in compliance.

Business Permits/License to Operate
All licensed child care centers, licensed child care homes and legally licensed exempt providers that are eligible to participate in the CCDF program must provide documentation that their program is legally allowed to operate as a business in the county, city, or town in which the program is located.

The program must meet one of the two requirements below:

A business permit or license must be provided to the Office of Early Childhood and Out of School Learning to provide proof that the program has a valid business permit or license to operate.
OR

A signed statement from the county, city, or town stating that a business permit or license is not required for their program to operate must be provided to the Office of Early Childhood and Out of School Learning.
