Christmas parade

The Christmas parade is Dec. 7 at 5 p.m.

Entry form deadline is Wednesday, Dec. 4th. Questions, call 812-883-4303.

Rules:

1.  Any animal(s) in the parade must be controlled by the owner at all times.

2.  No life-like Santa’s are allowed. No person may be dressed as Santa. 

3.  The distribution of candy and/or other items must be done in a safe manner.

4.  No loaded firearms or weapons are allowed.

5.  All vehicles must maintain a safe speed and distance from the other parade entries along the route.  A full car

  length should be maintained between each entry.

6.  The Chamber of Commerce will be responsible for assigning positions in the parade.

7.  All entries need to be visible during dusk or dark hours.  Entries are encouraged to have holiday lighting.          Headlights are to be turned on.  Walking groups should use lights and/or glow items.

8.  Participants will meet in the parking lot of the Salem Middle School, no later than 4:00 pm. 

The parade will start at 5:00 pm.  Please check in with staff upon arrival. All entries must be complete before entering the parking lot.  Only vehicles that are participating in the parade may enter the Salem Middle School parking lot.  **Depending on the number of entries, the parade line-up will be moved ahead from the Salem Middle School parking lot to line-up W. Homer St. beginning at Cheddar Depot.

9.  Persons driving / in control of a vehicle, must have a valid driver’s license & insurance or a

             parent/guardian must provide their consent in writing and assume liability.

10. The Washington County Chamber of Commerce is not liable for injuries to persons, animals, equipment

            and/or vehicles participating in the parade.

11. Parade entries may enter in the parking lot at the Salem Middle School. 

12.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

13.  Trophies will be awarded to Best Overall Float, Business, Civic, and Walking.

Parade Route:

            The parade will begin at the corner of W. Homer St./Cheddar Depot and N. Main St.  The parade will travel down Main Street to the Public Square.  The parade will follow normal traffic flow and disperse on E. Market St.
