Concert this weekend to help raise money for mission trip

New Hope United Methodist Church will send 31 people to Dilkon, Arizona, later this month and they are looking for the community’s support.

The group will leave June 23 and return June 30 and will visit the Navajo Christian Foundation.

“They are $4,000 short of their goal and we are doing the concert, meal and silent auction on Sunday,” said Pastor George Browning. “We will take a free-will offering at the event.”

Warriors For Christ will perform and there will be several different items for the silent auction. The event will be held from 5-9 p.m. at the church, 4957 West State Road 60 in Salem.

Joey and Angie Browning are leading the trip. They served as missionaries at the Navajo Christian Foundation for four years.

“They live in Salem and they adopted Freddie, who is a full blooded Navajo from Dilkon,” said Browning.

“In addition to financial support we covet prayers!” he said. “Prayers for safe travel and prayers for the mission. They will help with a building project and work directly with people who run a children’s home.”
