Children of all ages enjoyed an afternoon at the Piper Museum Thursday. The kids launched rockets, made airplanes, enjoyed snacks and even got to see a plane take off and land on the runway.

This was all part of the free community programs offered through the Salem Public Library in partnership with Hoosier Hills PACT, PCA, Salem Parks and Rec, WSLM and Washington County YMCA/Youth First.

Laura Barrett said this particular program was made possible by Lowell and Rhonda Depoy and American Senior Communities.

The next free community program will be Pirates Rock! on June 27 at 2 p.m. at the shelter house on the community walking trail behind Salem Middle School. The event is open to everyone.

Also this week will be rock painting on June 12 at 2 p.m. at the library. This is for anyone age 6 and up.

Tuesday, June 13, Jeanie B. Music will be held in the library program room at 2 p.m. Come sing, dance and have a great time with Jeanie B. This program is for all ages.

Music with Mr. Davis will be held Friday, June 15, at 10:30 a.m. and is for children 5 and under.

Crafty Creations will also be held Friday, June 15, at 10:30 a.m. for kids in grades kindergarten through fifth.

Call the library at 812-882-5600 for more information. All programs are free.
