Mae, Kane, Jack and Mickey are all waiting for you at the shelter!

Dogs

• “Mhera” is a 3- or 4-year-old, female shepherd mix who’s not great with young children and has no interest in other dogs, but she does know how to sit and beg and walks well on a leash. If you would like an application for this lovely lady, please email rockhaven83@gmail.com. Likes: alone time, nature documentaries, when things go her way. Dislikes: goldfinches, artificial sweeteners, people on Facebook who can’t make a post without mentioning the essential oils/dietary supplements/acne creams they sell on the side.

• “Hoss” is a male pit bull, 2 years, who has been waiting at the shelter longer than any other dog on this list, wondering why no one seems to want him. He’s fine with other dogs but absolutely not fine with cats. About 60 pounds. Very friendly, loves everyone he meets, and is always up for a ride in the car. He’s very strong and has a lot of playful energy. He’ll need a home with a fenced yard and no small children. If you would like to fill out an application for Hoss, please email rockhaven83@gmail.com. Likes: hot dogs, bratwursts, steak. Dislikes: cats, when someone steals his spot on the couch when he was only going to be up for a minute, getting wet.

• "Karma" is a pit mix, 3-4 years old, surrendered due to a bad family situation. Despite this, she's very sweet and loving with a cute, little tail. Weighs about 45 pounds. Likes: vanilla frosting (preferably on a cupcake, but will also accept it on a spoon), aromatherapy candles, Enya. Dislikes: spaghetti squash, Ugg boots, mud.

• "Boo" is a female basenji mix, 1-2 years old, found in the graveyard. Curly tail, reddish-brown and white. About 40 pounds. Likes: The Addams Family, walking by the creek, not finding crawdads in the creek. Dislikes: crawdad pinchers, getting the sun in her eyes, thunder.

• "Mae" is a collie-golden retriever mix, with a thick, gorgeous coat. About 30-35 pounds. Surrendered because her owner couldn't keep her. Likes: televised chess, sleight of hand magic, popcorn. Dislikes: pictures/videos/the vague idea of creatures with pincers (lobsters, scorpions, etc.), clowns, when her water reaches room temperature.

• Another "Hoss," Mae's brother, is a collie-golden retriever mix, with a darker coat. Surrendered because his owner couldn't keep him. Likes: cooking, building model rockets, poker. Dislikes: cleaning up the kitchen, cleaning the table after building a model rocket, picking up the cards because he doesn't have fingers.

• "Diva" is a heartworm-positive, 3-year-old pit bull mix. She's undergone her first heartworm treatment and is doing well. Rescue only. She hasn't had a great life and was apparently chained up at some point. She had wounds on her leg and foot from a chain being wrapped around her back leg and digging in. She is calm and quiet and good with other dogs. About 30 pounds. Likes: space to wander alone with her thoughts, someone to snuggle with, ice cream (no chocolate, please). Dislikes: chains, her lack of access to responsible heartworm prevention, email scams.

• "Zana" is a young adult, terrier mix, about 35 pounds, good with other dogs. Likes: white water rafting, freelance blogging, mountainbiking. Dislikes: fishing, fish, when you get too much lotion and have nothing to wipe it on.

Likes: orange slices, going down by the river to look at mossy rocks, hunting grasshoppers. Dislikes: scary movies, spicy food, people who claim that pits are evil or automatically aggressive.

• "Mickey" is 8 months old, male, white and mostly brindle, between 40 and 45 pounds. He's currently in foster care. Loves kids and is great with other dogs. Still a puppy, so has lots of energy and isn't really the couch potato type. Likes: frolicking, chasing crickets, Slinkys. Dislikes: stink bugs, soggy spring rolls (he'll eat them, but he won't like it), the rise in tick population due to climate change. If you are interested in Mickey, please email rockhaven83@gmail.com for an application.

• "Baxter" is a 2- to 3-year-old male beagle, about 25 pounds. Unfortunately, he is also heartworm positive, so is in need of a little extra love. Likes: rolling in the grass, chasing flying bugs, roo-roo-rooing. Dislikes: pollen, the increasing automation of the world, carrots.

Still shy but coming out of his shell. Likes: quiet days at the lake, chasing bubbles, watching TV shows about cars. Dislikes: bad cable connections, the beeping from the microwave (food shouldn't have to make that noise), celebrity gossip on the news.

• "Rolan" is an adult, male pit mix, about 55 pounds. Good with other dogs. Likes: rolling in the grass, extreme gardening, watching DIY videos on YouTube. Dislikes: when he rolls in something smelly, getting in trouble for extreme gardening, not being able to do the DIY projects because he has no fingers.

• "Chevyo" is a boxer, dark brown and white, 6 years old. Lived with a cancer patient who has gone into professional care. He's not used to being left alone and may express some anxiety in the form of tearing things up if left alone too long. He does not like kids and some other dogs, according to the family. He's also a runner, so needs a fenced yard. Likes: freedom, wide-open spaces, frolicking. Dislikes: anchovies, the idea of fish on pizza, the idea of pineapple on pizza.
