Hollingsworth Presents Military Awards to Salem Family

U.S. Representative Trey Hollingsworth (IN-09) recently met with the daughter, son, granddaughter, and grandson of Seaman First Class Carl Huff, who passed away in 2007, to present the service medals he earned in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Huff served from May 1944 – January 1946.

Before he passed in 2007, Seaman Huff’s daughter Donna Williams spent years attempting to retrieve the medals he earned in service to this country. After many attempts to seek help through other public offices, Donna sent a letter to Representative Trey Hollingsworth asking for help. Rep. Hollingsworth’s office received the medals from the U.S. Navy two months after her request. At the presentation ceremony, Carl’s grandson was proud to receive the medals on behalf of his grandfather.

The medals include: American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Discharge Button, Honorable Service Lapel Pin (Ruptured Duck), and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
