With Hurricane Florence already pounding the east coast, it's no surprise there will be many people in need in the coming months to recover. Hoosier Helps, a local faith-based organization that worked to bring donations and supplies to those affected by Hurricane Harvey last year in Texas, hopes Washington County will band together again to offer help to those impacted by the current storm.

Donations of the following items can be dropped off at Mt. Tabor Christian Church or Southern Hills Church from Monday, Sept. 17 to Monday, Sept. 24:

• Water (preferably gallong jugs for bathing and drinking, but cases are also welcome)
• Dawn, bleach, peroxide and hand sanitizer
• Body wash and shampoo
• Toilet paper
• Baby diapers, wipes, baby food (plastic single serve containers only, please)
• Non-perishable foods (canned tuna with pull-top openings, peanut butter, peanut butter or cheese crackers, soups with pull-top openings, single-serve ravioli/spaghetti/soup with pull-top openings, single-serve fruit/pudding/applesauce cups with pull-top openings, individual packaged cheese and peanut butter crackers, pretzels and chips, cereal, granola, Pop Tarts, new air mattresses with hand pumps, new infant pack'n'plays, new fleece blankets and/or pillows.

Monetary donation may be made payable to Mt. Tabor Christian Church, with "hurricane relief" or "Florence relief" in the subject line. Your donation will go towards fuel, meals to feed those in need from the Hoosiers Help grill and other relief efforts.

Organizers ask people who want to donate to give only the items listed here as the group has made the list specific to the national disaster relief situation and packing purposes.

The following schools and churches are partnering with Hoosiers Help: Mt. Tabor Christian Church, Southern Hills Church, Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, New Beginning Baptist Church, New Hope UMC, First Baptist Church of Salem, Orleans Elementary School, West Washington Schools, Salem Community Schools, East Washington Schools, Burris Elementary School and Southern Hills Daycare and Preschool.
