Houchin receives Senate committee assignments

STATEHOUSE (Dec. 12, 2018) – State Sen. Erin Houchin (R-Salem) has been appointed by Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) to serve on five committees during the 121st Indiana General Assembly.

Houchin will serve as ranking member of the Senate Committee on Tax and Fiscal Policy and as a member of the Senate Committees on Commerce and Technology; Elections; Family and Children Services; and Utilities.

“As the voice of Senate District 47, I look forward to continuing to advocate for my constituents while serving on these committees,” Houchin said. “Throughout the 2019 session, I will continue to fight the drug epidemic and improve Indiana’s foster-care system, as well as address other issues that are important to residents of southern Indiana.”

Committee hearings can be viewed online by visiting iga.in.gov. Legislative calendars, agendas, vote tallies and proposed legislation can also be found on this site.

The 2019 legislative session ceremonially began Tuesday, Nov. 20, with Organization Day. Legislators will reconvene Jan. 3 and, by law, must conclude the legislative session no later than April 29.
