A Salem college student had the experience of a lifetime this summer when she was one of 20 students selected to be official guests of the president of Poland. Courtney Kelley only learned of the opportunity hours before applications were due. She put together a video interview, submitted it and a few weeks later learned she was one of the few chosen from among 700 applicants.

She was sponsored by GE, which has facilities in Poland where some of the largest generators in the world are built. Kelley and the group traveled to Warsaw, Krakow, Wisla and Wroclaw. They learned about the country's history, commerce, financial sector and some about agriculture – Kelley is an agricultrual education major at Purdue.

At an official dinner at a presidential palace, Kelley was selected by her peers to speak on behalf of the group. She later learned her comments were broadcast to 40 million people.
