Keeley Stingel has been elected to the Washington County Council.

Stingel, who won the most votes during a county Republican party caucus held Saturday, Dec. 8, will begin her term on Jan. 1, according to county party member Justin Green.

Stingel will fill a seat left vacant due to the resignation of Todd Ewen, who was elected a county commissioner. Ewen served his resignation letter to the council earlier this month. His service to the council will end Dec. 31.

Two years remain on Ewen’s term. District precinct committee members voted in the caucus.

Other candidates who filed in the caucus were Jason Nelson, Sabrina Burdine and Randall Bills.
