UPDATE: Third case of COVID-19

The Washington County Health Department announced the third presumptive positive case of COVID-19 in Washington County.

After speaking to the Washington County Health Nurse, a couple of facts from the initial announcement have been clarified. The patient is actually home quarantined in Washington County not Marion County, as previously believed.

According to the update, "Once okayed by state to be tested, the patient is told which testing site to go to," and it just happened to be Marion County.

The county does have some testing kits available. The details of why the patient was sent to Marion County are unknown other than that is where the patient was told to go.

The WCHD is working closely with the local and state officials along with Marion County Health Department to ensure that contacts of the patient are identified and monitored and that all infection control protocols are being followed.

As the WCHD releases more information on this case and potentially others, we will pass that information on to our readers.
