Doris M. Richey

Doris M. Richey, 79, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Lake Iola Assisted Living surrounded by her family. She was born on October 25, 1938 in Saul, Kentucky, the daughter of the late James and Maggie (Napier) Bowling. Doris graduated from Austin High School in the Class of 1957. She was married on Dec. 25, 1960 to Charles M. Richey, who passed away on July 20, 2017. Doris was a retired employee of the U.S. Census Bureau in Jeffersonville, Indiana, where she worked for 32 years and also worked at Walmart in Scottsburg, Indiana for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and a member of the Scottsburg Church of God. In addition to her husband and parents, Doris was preceded in death by a brother, Dwight David Bowling and a sister, Daisy Ward. Survivors include a daughter, Lori A. Richie and husband Steve of Scottsburg, Indiana; a son: Brian C. Richey and wife Jamie of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; two brothers, Denver Bowling and wife Thelma and Carl Bowling all of Scottsburg, Indiana; two sisters, Daphne Bowling and Deanna Woods and husband Richard all of Scottsburg, Indiana; eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Christy (Chris), Lauren (Stephen), Ashley (Justin), Lindsay, Sabryn, Marley and Teagan; eleven great grandchildren, Jared, Kendra, Alyssa, Tatum, Bryson, Madison, Hunter, Leyah, Hannah, Myles and Sienna and three great great grandchildren. Funeral Service: 11:00 am Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Collins Funeral Home with Pastor David Carroll officiating. Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Monday and after 9 am Tuesday.
