John I. Simon

John I. Simon, 81, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Scott Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 7, 1937 in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Gabriel Samuel Simon and Iva Irene (Miller) Simon. John lived in Punxsutawney as a adolescent and graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1955. He was a retired employee of the electrical maintenance department at the old Colgate Palmolive Company in Jeffersonville, Indiana, but had also previously worked at the old I.C.I Ammunition Plant in Charlestown, Indiana. John was a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of the American Legion and the VFW both in Sellersburg, Indiana, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and loved riding his motorcycle and working on his old truck. John was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Lou Muth and Sally Wright. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Marie P. (Phillips) Simon; a daughter, Tammy Campbell of Georgetown, Indiana; a stepson, Rocky Simon and his wife Ann of Scottsburg, Indiana; two grandchildren, Eva Hayes and Seneca Simon and two great grandchildren, Nathan Hayes and Lily Money. Funeral Service: 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Collins Funeral Home with burial in Kimberlin Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 12 to 2 pm Tuesday at Collins Funeral Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
