Carol Ruth Myers

Carol Ruth (Bower) Myers, 84, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018 in her son’s home after her battle with colon and liver cancer. In hospice care for six months prior to her death, Carol passed peacefully in her sleep. 

Born January 25, 1934 in Salem, Indiana to Byron and Gladys (Crane) Bower.  Carol graduated from Salem Washington Township High School in 1952. 

Carol loved spending time with her family, working in her flower gardens, reading, and she also loved to travel. She was the Matriarch of the family and loved having Sunday dinners with her children. She was very proud of the accomplishments of each of her children.

Carol married William J. “Bill” Myers on May 29, 1955.

She retired from AT&T (Indiana Bell) in 1994 and had also worked at RCA.

Survivors include Sons: Col. Joseph Myers, USA, Ret., Durham, NC, James (Terri Wilson), and Jeffrey (Teresa Hedger) of Indianapolis; Daughter-in-law: Donah of Indianapolis; Grandsons: Jeremy and Justin Myers, Granddaughters: Jennifer (Erik) Howell, Julie (Justin) Hurtubise, Jessica (John) Moore, Mary (Michael) Winkler, Emily (Dereck) Sharp. Great-grandchildren: Kain, Hunter, Ari, Dean, Lincoln, Scarlett, and another grandchild due any day.

Carol was preceded in death by her Parents: Byron & Gladys; Husband: Bill; two Sons: Jon and Jay; Daughter-in-law: Hwa Jin and Siblings: Irvin “Bill”, Betty, Margaret “Mame”, and Ellen.

Calling will be Wednesday February 21, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan-Speedway 2950 North High School Road Speedway, IN 46224 from 4 to 8 pm with additional calling on Thursday February 22, 2018 from 10 am followed by the funeral service at 11 am.  Burial will be in West Ridge Park Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN.  Onlince condolences and a video tribute to Carol may be viewed at www.flannerbuchanan.com
