Elmer Starrett

Pekin, IN, Elmer Edward Starrett, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home on October 20, 2020. He was born in Gatliffe KY, to Cecil and Mary (Davis) Starett.

Elmer married Barbara (Dean) Starrett on April 23,1953. He worked in the Kentucky coal mines until he moved to Chicago, Illinois, where he worked as a machinist at a box factory, later he would return to Kentucky working in Louisville at the General Electric Factory from which he retired. He then bought a farm in Pekin, IN, where he and his wife raised their two sons. Elmer enjoyed working his farm, raising his garden, and spending time with his family.

He is preceeded in death by his parents; son, Ricky Starrett; brothers, Douglas Starrett, and James Starrett; sisters-in-law, Helen Dean, Ludie Crider; grandson, Logan Starrett; as well as brother-in-laws, Orlee Napier, George Dean, and Frank Dean.

Elmer is survived by his wife; son Jerome (Roxanne) Starrett; sisters, Evelyn Whittaker, Charlene Gamble; brother-in-laws, Walter Dean, Herbert (Bonnie) Dean, Lawrence (Marcy) Napier, David (Mary) Napier; daughter-in-law, Linda Starrett; four grandchildren, Josh (Leah) Starrett, Jessica (Ross) Timberlake, Kawliga Starrett, Clayton (Ashley) Starrett; two step-grandchildren, Eric Balentine, and Cody Balentine, and several great-grandchildren.

A private burial will be held at Martinsburg cemetery.
