Garold Douglas Hobson

Garold Douglas Hobson died in Manhattan, New York on June 5, 2018.  

Doug, as he is fondly called, was born in Salem, Indiana on November 4, 1951, to Garold and Rosalie Hobson who preceded him in death.

He attended Salem High School and served in the US Army for six years having served a tour of duty in Vietnam from November 1969 to November 1970.  He was also stationed in Germany, and worked as a diesel truck mechanic. He received numerous awards and commendations, medals during his tour of duty and was honorably discharged in May 1973.

He was a skilled craftsman and performed carpentry and mechanical repair projects most of his adult life. For the past 36 years he lived in New York and New Jersey. He was self-employed and owned his own contracting business, Hobson & Son. 

Survivors include his wife, Juliet Banaag Hobson; a son, Jason D Hobson (Liz) who is  a Major in the VA National Guard; a daughter, Heather Simmons; a sister, Rita Maudlin; four brothers: Larry (Sue) Hobson, Steve (Pam) Hobson, Kent (Melinda) Hobson, Tim Hobson; and numerous nieces and nephews,

A memorial mass will be held at Corpus Christi Church in South River, New Jersey. Immediately following is a memorial military service and interment at BG William Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey on Wednesday, June 20, 2018.
