Jerry McIntire

HARTFORD CITY - Jerry L. McIntire, 79, passed away at 9:44 a.m. on Saturday December 29, 2018 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.

            He was born in Hartford City on June 18, 1939 to William H. McIntire and Annabee (Smoot) McIntire. His father precedes him in death.

            Jerry graduated from Hartford City High School in 1957 and was also of a graduate of The Coyne Institute aka Northwestern University School of Electrical Engineering in 1959.

            Jerry had formerly worked for Wabash Magnetics of Wabash, IN, Hobart Co. of Troy, Ohio and Tecumseh Products in Salem, IN. He retired in 2002 from Setex in St. Marys OH where he served as the quality control manager.

            Jerry married Lois M. Smelser on January 6, 1962 in Millgrove, IN at the Millgrove United Methodist Church.

            He was a member of the American Society of Quality Control as well as a member of AOPA. He enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed traveling, especially to Orange Beach, Alabama where he wintered.

            Jerry will be sadly missed by his wife, Lois McIntire of Hartford City; sons, Troy L. (wife, Karen) McIntire of Troy, OH and Jay E. (wife, Michele) McIntire of New Albany, OH; grandchildren, Kelsey R. McIntire and Luke McIntire; mother, Annabee McIntire of Montpelier; brother Bill (wife, Anette) McIntire of Montpelier; sister Pauletta Elam of New Haven; sisters-in-law, June Ellen (husband, Rev. Ron) Storms of Hartford City, Betty V. (husband, Wayne) Walston of Leesburg and Christine K. (husband, Dave) Kilty of Hartford City; brothers-in-law, Tom A. (wife, Linda) Smelser of Fishers and Darrell W. (wife, Leanna) Smelser of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews.

            He is also preceded in death by his brother-in-law Jim Elam.

            Funeral Service for Jerry will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High Street Hartford City. Burial will follow at the Asbury Cemetery in Wells County.

            Visitation will be Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Keplinger Funeral Home.

            Memorial may be made to Mad Anthonys Childrens Hope House or The American Cancer Society.
