Joyce “Jay” Medlock

Joyce “Jay” Medlock, of Henryville, Indiana, passed away at 6:30 PM, on Friday, December 28, 2018.
Born April 18, 1938, she was the daughter of Manker Nicholson and Phoebe Ann (Metzger) Nicholson.
Joyce was a 1955 Salem High School graduate who was very close to her classmates and enjoyed attending her monthly class luncheons. She worked numerous jobs throughout her lifetime…US Postal Service, GE, Indiana Army Ammunition Plant, and she retired from the US Census Bureau. She was a member of Henryville First Baptist Church. Joyce enjoyed working crossword puzzles, sudoku, reading romance novels, watching basketball and baseball, sports, being a Cincinnati Reds fan, and talking to anyone and everyone,  because she never met a stranger .
On May 6, 1961, in Salem, IN, she married Robert Eugene Medlock. Joyce has lived life without him since April 21, 1998 when he entered into eternal rest.
Survivors include 4 sons, Kevin (Julie) Medlock of Underwood, IN, Gary (Andrea) Medlock of Whiteland, IN, Mark Medlock of Charlestown, IN, and Jeffery (Angela) Medlock of Henryville, IN, 9 grandchildren, Brian Medlock, Gregory (Kenzie) Medlock, Kilee Schoolcraft, Molly Medlock, Brandon Medlock, Katie Medlock, Megan Medlock, Jacob Medlock, and Maddie Medlock, 2 brothers, Howard “Vern” Nicholson of Salem, IN and Irvin “Dutch” Nicholson of Elkhart, IN.
She was also preceded in death by 8 siblings, Millard “Mud” Nicholson, Willard “Ud” Nicholson, Francis “Dink” Nicholson, Russell “Russ” Nicholson, Ruth “Sis” Hampton, Mary “Booty” Shouse, Doris “Dottie” Bircley, Violet Lou “Lou” White.
Pastor Toby Jenkins conducted funeral services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at Henryville Baptist Church with burial following at Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem, IN.
The family requests expressions of sympathy be given to Henryville First Baptist Church or Henryville’s food pantry c/o Adams Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 209 S. Ferguson, St., Henryville, IN 47126.
