Russell Leon Cheatham

Russell Leon Cheatham, 71, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana. He was born on February 15, 1949 in Scottsburg, Indiana, the son of the late Sylvestor Russell Cheatham and Lois I. (Hobbs) Cheatham. Leon graduated from Salem High School in 1968. He was a retired heavy equipment mechanic, a member of the Mt. Eden Christian Church, the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 181 in Henderson, Kentucky, Clark Lodge # 40 F & AM in Jeffersonville, Indiana and Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. Leon enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson and spending time with friends and family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Fox. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Sharon (Cutshall) Cheatham; two sons, Rusty Cheatham of Little York, Indiana and Justin Cheatham of Scottsburg, Indiana; two daughters, Veronica Cheatham of Austin, Indiana and Monica Fagersten of Indianapolis, Indiana; a stepdaughter, Malina Reynolds of Louisville, Kentucky; a stepson, Bobby Reynolds of Jacksonville, Florida; a half sister, Marie Chapness of Epping, England and nine grandchildren, Derek and Karli Sipe, Addison, Emma and Ella Cheatham and Russell Leon "Diesel" Cheatham, III, Sydney, Riley and Korbin Reynolds. Funeral services and visitation will be private and for immediate family only. Services may be viewed on Collins Funeral Home's Facebook page at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm on Wednesday at Mt. Eden Cemetery near Scottsburg, Indiana. This will be open to the public and social distancing guidelines will be observed. Please follow the CDC’s recommendations and guidelines while attending the graveside service and face coverings for those attending is encouraged. Memorial Contributions may be given to the Mt.
