Wanda Fay Mays

Mrs. Wanda Fay Mays, age 78, of Salem, passed away Sunday, November 10 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.

Mrs. Mays was born May 6, 1941 in Washington County, Indiana the daughter of Thomas Dowling Sr. and Amba Spurgeon Dowling.  She retired after 33 years with the Salem Police Department as a Dispatcher.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lemond Mays.  She is also survived by three sons:  Danny Mays, David Mays and Timmy Mays all of Salem, a daughter:  Tammy Goss of Pekin, two sisters:  Danna Sease of Salem and Carolyn Dale of Galena, 5 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

She was preceded in death by her daughter:  Judy Hinton, three brothers:  Thomas Dowling Jr., Jesse Dowling and Everett Fleenor, five sisters:  Doris Dunn, Fern Frost, Thelma Sease, Kathy Baker, and Linda Dowling, and her parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8PM and Thursday from 9AM-time of service.
