Death Investigation in Washington County

Saturday afternoon shortly after 4:00 pm, two men were riding four wheelers near Blue River in Washington County when they noticed a deceased female in the Blue River. They also noticed a vehicle close to where the body was located parked on the bank of the river. Washington County Deputies responded to the area and set up a crime scene. Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg were then requested to assist in the investigation. The location was approximately one half of a mile west of South Bowers Knob Road, (closest town is Pekin).

 

An autopsy was performed this morning to positively identify the female and to determine a time and cause of death. The autopsy identified the female as Christina E. Collins, 31 years of age, from East Noland Road in Pekin, IN. The autopsy showed no signs of a struggle, drowning or trauma and a cause of death was not determined however, toxicology results are pending and could take up to six weeks to be completed.

 

Investigators believe Christina E. Collins had been deceased and in the water since Thursday evening, May 17th. With the findings in the investigation so far, detectives do not believe foul play is involved.

 

It was determined the last person in possession of the vehicle located at the scene was Christina E. Collins.

 

The investigation is continuing.
