Cassandra Suggs, 38, Fredericksburg, was arrested on Saturday, Feb. 1, after she reportedly struck another woman with a piece of wood.

Deputy Abigail Powers arrived at the home on Bullington Road that afternoon to find Susan Senn sitting in the garage with blood running down her face. Senn told Powers she lives at the home, owned by Stephanie Clark, until she can find an apartment of her own. Suggs and her teenaged son live there as well.

Senn said an empty bag of syringes and a spoon were found in Suggs’s room and when she was confronted about it, Suggs and her son became angry and Senn said the son, 16, pushed her. Senn said she grabbed the teen by the sweatshirt collar and told him not to touch her. She said the teen held her back while Suggs picked up a piece of wood and hit her on the head. The homeowner called 911 and Suggs and her son left.

Senn said while waiting for police and EMS, she had a seizure, and that she does get stress-induced seizures on occasion. She also had an open wound located above her eye. She was taken to St. Vincent-Salem hospital for treatment, where she received four stitches and was diagnosed with a concussion and a strained lower back.

Clark’s daughter, 13, witnessed the altercation as well.

Powers and Indiana State Trooper Kyle Taylor found Suggs and her son in Palmyra. Suggs said Senn was screaming at her while Suggs was trying to leave the home and then grabbed her son. She said she struck Senn in the head to make her let go. Suggs was placed under arrest for the incident. Police were also informed Suggs had three warrants from Georgia with full extradition.

Suggs’s son corroborated his mother’s story.

Suggs was preliminarily charged with aggravated battery.
