Eastern’s cross country team will keep their season moving as they advance to semi-state this Saturday morning. The Musketeers competed at the Bedford regional this past weekend and excelled, finishing fifth overall to advance as a team.
But Uriah Guthrie led Eastern by winning the boys race with a time of 15:48 for his new personal best. Head Coach Mark Olesh said it was a testament to his hard work. “Uriah has been working so hard this season. To win the regional against the area’s top runners was so impressive!”
Olesh said it was really a complete team effort to advance. “I was really pleased with how they did. It was a team effort to advance. Not only did Uriah run his best race ever to win, but Rhett (Pennington) and Nathaniel (Endris) both broke the 17 minute mark. This was so important. Each of the guys knew what it would take to advance against the big schools.”
Eastern will travel to Brown County for the semi-state race on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m.
