2019 MSC Champion Lady Lions

For the first time ever, the Salem Lady Lions' tennis team are the Mid-Southern Conference Champions.

Head Coach Lisa Nice said it was a special feeling to have her squad win the conference. “It’s incredibly exciting to make school history. …It was one ball, one game, one set and one match at a time."

The Lady Lions clinched conference with a win over Scottsburg on the Warriors senior night. Nice said that was a big moment for their team. "It was Scottsburg’s senior night, so there was more time prior to the match for the girls to have to wait before they could get on court," Nice said. "I just kind of stepped back and looked over at the line as they were standing there waiting. I’ve never seen them more focused."

Salem wasn’t done. They had one more MSC match to play against Clarksville to finish undefeated, and they did that in commanding fashion. “The great thing about this group is the fact they all contribute something leadership or support-wise to the team," said Nice.
