Racing returns to Salem Speedway Fueled by the Hoosier Lottery on Saturday night with free grandstand admission for all ladies courtesy of Meadow View/Salem Crossing.

“It’s Mother’s Day weekend and we’re celebrating on Saturday night,” said track General Manager Richard Deaton. “This is our way of saluting the many hardworking moms who sacrifice so much for their families.”

Headlining the night of action-packed racing on Saturday will be the biggest early season race of the year for the Lucas Oil Great American Stocks – the Meadow View/Salem Crossing 75.

Todd Kempf of Huntingburg, who captured the season opening Ford Go Further 50 on April 22, will be looking to make it two wins in-a-row when the Great American Stocks return to Salem on Saturday night.
Kempf can expect plenty of competition from the likes of Kyle Hadley of Louisville and Salem’s Tim Rivers, who finished second and third respectively in the season opening event.

The super-competitive division has several car/driver combinations capable of visiting victory lane on any given night. Over the past two seasons nine different drivers have visited victory lane in Lucas Oil Great American Stock point races at Salem.

Other expected Salem entrants include former track champions David Bayens of Borden,  Chris French of Vine Grove, Kentucky, Brian Bayer of Birdseye and Tony Conway of Louisville.

Another former Salem Speedway track champion expected for the upcoming race is third-generation driver Will Kimmel of Sellersburg.
Kimmel, a former Salem Speedway late model champion, is set to make his first start in a Lucas Oil Great American Stock points race in nearly three years. The 29-year-old Kimmel, who is the nephew of 10-time ARCA Racing Series champion Frank Kimmel, has three career starts in Lucas Oil Great American Stock point races with a win and a third place finish both coming during the 2011 season.
Joining the Lucas Oil Great American Stocks at Salem on Saturday will be the Salem Front Wheel Drive Stocks and the Midwest Asphalt Champ Kart Series.

Saturday’s race is the season opening event for both the Front Wheel Drive Stocks and the Midwest Asphalt Champ Kart Series

Spectator gates open and practice gets underway at 5 p.m., with qualifications at 6:15 p.m. and the first race rolling off at 7 p.m.
Advance general admission tickets are priced at $12 for men and teens, $3 for children age 7-12. All ladies and children, age 6 and under, are admitted free.
