Unique motorcycle race here

Some of the best off road motorcycle racers in the world are coming to the Wade Farm in Campbellsburg Aug. 11-12 for the Kenda Full Gas Sprint Enduro Series Race. Ryan Sipes, former ISDE World Champion and Supercross racer, is currently leading this year’s race series.

Josh Strange from Australia, a past GNCC champion, will challenge Sipes for the win, along with many other factory sponsored pro riders from all over the U.S. and other countries. This race is unique in that it offers the chance for full-time pros and amateur racers of all ages to race on the same course on the same day as the pros.

It also offers great opportunities for spectators to watch the racers on different parts of the course. The race consists of two different courses. A grass track, very similar to an all natural Motocross track, and a woods course that has many different demanding types of terrain. Each course is run three times both days for a total of six timed tests with the fastest combined time winning each class. Riders start 10 seconds apart based on finish time, so tight head-to-head racing is expected in each class.

Racing starts at 8:30 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday for the youth class and the pros and adult amateur classes start at 11 a.m. Racing will last until mid to late afternoon.

Gate fee is $10/person and is good for both days. There will be a food vendor both days as well.

There will also be an adventure ride Saturday afternoon around 4:30 after racing is finished. It will be a scenic tour of the backroads of the area with many interesting stops along the way. Anyone with a street legal motorcycle and experience in riding gravel and dirt roads can participate. Your gate fee is all that is required and route sheets will be provided so riders can go with a small group or do the tour on their own at their own pace.

The race site is on North White River Road, 8.7 miles north of Campbellsburg. Take Hwy. 60 to the caution light at Campbellsburg and follow the orange arrows north on White River road to the race site parking. Camping is allowed Friday and Saturday night with a paid admission.

Additional information can be found on http://www.sprintenduro.com or by calling Brad Myers at 812-883-2167.

This is a perfect event for first time racers and advanced riders alike and is sponsored by the American Motorcyclist Association. Memberships for the AMA are available at the race for racers.
