Standoff ends with arrest

Allen Scott Whitt was arrested at 11:08 a.m. Thursday after an approximate seven hour standoff with police.

According to Washington County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Brent Miller, the original call came in at 4:20 a.m. A female called the police stating that she was being threatened by her boyfriend at a home on Franklin School Road. Two county deputies responded to the scene, where they were able to remove the female from the home.

Whitt refused to leave and the sheriff's department called the Indiana State Police Emergency Response team.

Miller said it took a little while for them to set up and eventually they had to push the front door in to get him to respond.

He was taken into custody and transported to the county sheriff's department, where he is currently being questioned. He has been charged with a Level 3 Felony for criminal confinement.

Miller reported at 4 p.m. that they are searching the property and believe the case will turn into something more.
