Salem alumni cancel banquet

The Salem Alumni Association is proud of their long-standing tradition of hosting an annual alumni banquet every spring at the high school. It is one of the most well-attended banquets in the state.

Alumni from all over make plans to return to the hallowed halls of Salem High School. It is a social event that spotlights the 50-year, 25-year and current graduating classes from Salem.

Due to COVID-19, the 2020 banquet was cancelled with hopes that in 2021 the honor classes would be comprised of two 50-year classes, two 25-year classes and graduates from 2020 and 2021.

However, COVID continues to rear its ugly head and alumni coordinator, Shirley Nale, has announced that the 2021 alumni banquet will also be cancelled, in hopes for a better 2022.

As it stands, the honor classes for the 2022 banquet will include 50-year classes from 1970, ‘71 and ‘72, along with the 25-year classes of 1995, ‘96 and ‘97. Nale is also hoping that graduates from 2020 and 2021 will join the graduates from 2022 in being welcomed into the alumni family of Salem High School.
