Stewart wins art contest

This is one of Hannah's first drafts for the calendar art contest.

East Washington art student, Hannah Stewart, submitted a drawing to the Jackson County Cooperative for their annual cooperative wide student art contest. She was chosen as the winner amongst eighth graders and her drawing will be featured in the August 2021 spot on the annual cooperative calendar. She is a freshman this year at Eastern High School.

The cooperative issued a statement that said the contest has been conducted for the past 23 years by the Indiana Electric Cooperatives staff. The contest judging is normally held in late March or early April, but due to COVID-19 and resulting school closings, the art contest judging was delayed until June. For her efforts, Stewart received $200.

Complimentary calendars will soon be available at participating co-ops or for $6 each through the mail from Indiana Connection. The calendars are distributed to electric cooperative consumers around the state by participating electric cooperatives.
