Born Boutique Hosts Norah Richards Fundraiser This Saturday

Born Boutique of Salem is hosting a Norah Richards Fundraiser this Saturday, Mar. 2, to raise funds to help a local girl with a debilitating genetic disease. Owner Lakin Jones will be donating 20% of all in-store and online purchases, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., to help defray medical expenses.  The public can shop on the store's website, or visit the store on the southwest side of the Salem Public Square.

Four year old Norah Richards, daughter of Josh and Emily Richards of Salem, was diagnosed with Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC) in September 2021.

At first sight Norah appears to be a pretty little girl who loves singing, sunglasses, makeup, dresses, and her siblings! She is definitely one in a million, as she sports a million-dollar smile as she shows off her blingy jewelry. Norah easily wins over people with her sweet smile. However, much of the time she is either in pain or is struggling to stay mobile.

AHC is an ultra-rare, incurable genetic disorder that affects one in one million people and has no cure nor current FDA-approved medications to ease symptoms. Primary complications include episodes of temporary paralysis and autonomic dysfunction. Basically, Norah’s nervous system doesn’t function as it should which in turn causes debilitating issues with both internal organs and external body functions.

Follow her story on Facebook on Norah’s CREWsaders page for updates on her journey and ways to help.
