Drive up food bank

A volunteer at the Washington County Food bank will bring a box of food to the door for you to pick up and load in your vehicle.

The Washington County Food Bank, 106 N. Water St., wants to remind citizens they are open and have food available for distribution.

The hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. All that is required for service is a photo ID and proof of Washington County residency, such as a piece of mail like a utility bill or car registration.

Currently, due to COVID, they are operating under a drive up system. Simply come to the front of the building and a volunteer will assist you.

Your food will be brought to the door and you will be asked to pick it up and put it in your vehicle. You must wear a mask to receive food.

If anyone is wanting to donate to the food bank, here are some of the items they don’t receive a lot of, but would appreciate: Spices, white bread, all types of canned soup, feminine hygiene products, adult diapers and dishwashing soap. At this time they are not in need of monetary donations

“We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from the community,” said Janice Briner, vice-president of the food bank.
