Candidates file for primary election

Washington County Clerk Stephanie Rockey fills out the paperwork to run for clerk on the Republican ballot in the upcoming primary, Wednesday morning. Others filing thus far include Shirley Batt, Democrat, for treasurer; Phil Marshall, Republican, District 1 Commissioner; Rick Roberts, Republican, District 3 Commissioner; and Peg Schell, Republican for coroner.

Prospective candidates have until Friday, Feb. 7, at noon, to file for the primary. Local positions up for election are clerk, treasurer, coroner, District 1 and 3 commissioners, three at-large county council positions, surveyor, party state delegates and party precinct committee members.
