Paper artist

Drop by The Depot Railroad Museum on Saturday, July 24, from noon to 4 p.m. Artist Emily Chase will be demonstrating paper-cutting and chatting with visitors to the museum.

Emily Chase is an artist based in Bloomington. She uses fabric and paper to create sculptural objects which explore memory and identity. She also runs a small handicrafts business called Inkstand Studio, teaches workshops, and is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree at Indiana University. Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums nationally.

She is here in Salem for a six-week artist residency through the Center for Rural Engagement. She is working on a project about quilts, the people who make them, and the stories they tell.
