David Louis Shelton

David Louis Shelton, 83, formerly of Kokomo, died Nov. 17, 2022, in his home where he resided with his son and daughter-in-law in Borden.  
He was born on March 4, 1939, in Marion County, Indiana, to Louis Edward and Coline Seward (Cook) Shelton.  
He married Sharon Nadine Coffee on May 27, 1961, in Marion County and she preceded him in death on Jan. 23, 2022.
David was a 1957 graduate of Valley High School in Valley Station, Kentucky and he earned his bachelor’s degree from St. Louis Christian College. David served the Lord as a preacher for 20 years and missionary for 16 years, retiring in 2005. Prior to his ministry, he had worked in business. He was a member of Fairfield Christian Church in Oakford, Indiana and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren , great-grandchildren, and beloved dog, GG “Grandpa’s Girl.”
Surviving are his sons, David Louis (Jan) Shelton II, Borden, Stephen Dale (Marta) Shelton, Mulberry, Florida, and James Macer (Kim) Shelton, Kokom; eight grandchildren, Rachel (Jamie) Voyles, Amber (Stuart) Tower, Christopher Shelton, Rebekah Shelton, Anna Shelton, Heidi Shelton (fiancé: Samir), Stephen Shelton, and Trisha Zink; nine great-grandchildren, Amanda, Keriauna, Korbin, Kadriann, Kinleigh, Adriana, June, Sage, and Arabella; sister-in-law, Andi Shelton; nieces and nephew, Andrea (Chris) Luhman, Eric (Nicole) Shelton, and Laci (Tom) Toupin.  
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of nearly 61 years; grandson, Todd Zink, and his brother, LeRoy Shelton.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Fairfield Christian Church, Kokomo. Friends can visitfrom 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church.  
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in David’s honor to International Disaster Emergency Service (IDES), 355 Park 32 Dr. W., Noblesville, IN 46062.  
Archer-Weston Funeral & Cremation Center and Clinton County Crematory in Frankfort was in charge of arrangements. Private family inurnment was held in Lincoln Cemetery, Whitestown.
