Mr. Kenneth L. Martin, age 97, of Pekin, passed away Monday, November 21, 2022, at his home.

Mr. Martin was born December 11, 1924, in Washington County, Indiana the son of Logan J. Martin and Mattie Luse Martin.   He was a retired farmer and had served on the Pierce Township Advisory Board.  He also served on the Pierce/Polk volunteer fire department and was presented with a plaque in April 2022 for his devotion, dedication and involvement in the development of the department.   Kenneth was a member of the First Christian Church but attended Salem First Baptist Church.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife:  Helen Louise Owens Martin and she preceded him in death on August 6, 1978.  He then married Lucille Jones Martin, and she survives.  He is also survived by one son:  Ronald Lee Martin of Canton, a daughter:  Susan Bates (Jim) of Pekin, two step-sons:  Terry Hammond (Ginny) of Pekin and Tommy Hammond of Pekin, a sister:  Annabelle Trueblood of Salem, seven grandchildren:  Brandon Bates, Craig Bates (Jenna), Eric Bates (Brittany), Ryan Bates, Shawn Bates, Julia Hayes (Richard), and Dianna Miracle (Nicholas), four step-grandchildren:  Chris Souder (David), Jody Hammond (Summer), Clay Hammond, and Ben Hammond, 3 great-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-great-grandchildren.  In addition to his wife: Helen was also preceded in death by one son:  Roger Wayne Martin (Patty), two brothers:  Logan E. Martin and Russell G. Martin, his parents, and a step-great-grandson:  Brett Hammond.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2PM at Weathers Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Steve Gorman officiating.  Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 11AM-time of service.
