Mr. Monty Dale Tompkins, age 74, of Salem, passed away Friday, April 9 at Salem Crossing.

Mr. Tompkins was born September 17, 1946 in Washington County, Indiana the son of Herman and Pauline Saylor Tompkins.  He was a retired employee of Babbit’s Construction.  He was a member of American Legion.

Monty is survived by his wife:  Oma Green Tompkins of Salem, a son:  Lonnie Tompkins, a daughter:  Vonnie Atkins, two step-daughters:  Andrea Montgomery and Nancy Horine, two brothers:  William Tompkins and Ernie Stewart, two sisters:  Joyce Fultz and Paula Cheatham, 3 grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and 20 step-great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by a niece:  Rhonda Smith. 

He was preceded in death by a step-daughter:  Paula Huff, three brothers:  Lloyd Tompkins, Marshall Stewart, and Richard Stewart, a sister:  Linda McKinght, two nieces:  Susan Lee and Teresa Hollen-Smedley and his parents.

Mr. Tompkins wishes were to be cremated with no services and his ashes buried at Crown Hill Cemetery.
