Louisville man arrested after pursuit

December 15, 2020: A short pursuit ended with the driver's arrest on numerous charges after inter-agency teamwork ended the chase early Monday morning.

Around Midnight, Clark County Dispatch advised that a "boom" truck, allegedly stolen in Kentucky, was possibly en route to the Charlestown, Indiana area. Trooper Tatum Rohlfing soon spotted a truck matching the description, traveling eastbound on I-265 near the Clark and Floyd County line. Trooper Rohlfing followed the vehicle as it exited on to SR62 eastbound and attempted to make a traffic stop; however, the truck failed to stop and fled eastbound on SR 62.

The vehicle struck Stop Sticks deployed by Troopers and Clark County Deputies on SR62 but continued on the highway. The truck then traveled eastbound in the westbound lanes of SR 62 before finally coming to a stop after running off the south side of SR 62 just east of Logistics Avenue. The driver exited the vehicle and fled into a wooded area but was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

The driver was identified as Ronald A. Patterson, 33, of Louisville, Kentucky. During an inventory of the truck, officers discovered a glass smoking pipe containing suspected methamphetamine. Also, they learned that Patterson was wanted on parole violation warrants in Kentucky.

Ronald Patterson was taken to the Clark County Jail and is charged in Indiana with:

  2. Possession of Methamphetamine - Leve 6 Felony
  3. Resisting Law Enforcement - A Misdemeanor
  4. Possession of Paraphernalia - C Misdemeanor
