All three girls' basketball teams reach tonight's sectional semi-finals

The Indiana High School Athletic Association basketball tournament moves to the sectional semi-final round Friday night.

Washington County has all three teams in action.

Salem, by way of drawing the bye, will take on Madison in the second game tonight in the Class 3A Sectional at Charlestown.

The Lady Lions lost to the Lady Cubs 53-25 on Nov. 18.

The winner of that game will play in Saturday’s championship against the winner of the Charlestown Scottsburg game Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Eastern, playing in the Class 2A Sectional 46 hosted by Providence, overcame a slow start Wednesday against Clarksville. The Lady Musketeers beat the Lady Generals 69-33 and will play Austin tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Providence.

Eastern lost to Austin earlier in the season 55-38 to the Lady Eagles.

The winner of that game will play the winner of the Henryville-Brownstown game Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. for the Sectional 46 championship.

West Washington is the only team playing at home and have the tallest task of any of the three county teams. The Lady Senators play Borden, who has spent most of the season as the number one ranked team in Class 1A.

West Washington will play the Lady Braves in the second game of Class 1A Sectional 61 after winning a tightly contested game 61-53 Tuesday night against South Central.

In Friday’s first game at 6 p.m. in Campbellsburg, Rock Creek will play Lanesville.

The two winners of Friday’s games will play one another at 7:30 p.m. Saturday for the Sectional 61 championship.
