Pairings for 50th state football tournament announced

With one week left of the regular season the Indiana High School athletic association announced pairings for the 50th state high school football tournament Sunday evening.

Starting in Class A Sectional 48, West Washington will begin play Friday, Oct. 21, at Eastern Greene. The winner of that game will take on the winner of Springs Valley and Providence.

North Daviess, who received a bye, South Spencer and Tecumseh are the teams in the other side of the Sectional 48 bracket.

In Class 2A Sectional 39, Eastern Pekin opens sectional play against a familiar foe, though they didn’t play one another this season. The Musketeers will take on former Mid Southern Conference foe Clarksville.

The game will be in Pekin on October 21. The winner of that game will play the winner of the Switzerland County-Indianapolis Scecina game.

Triton Central, Christel House, Brownstown Central and Brown County are the four teams in the other side of the Sectional 39 bracket.

In Class 3A Sectional 32, Salem gets a real familiar foe, when they host the Charlestown Pirates for the second time in three weeks.

The Lions just lost to Charlestown 33-6, but did have some missed opportunities. The winner of that game will play the Madison-Heritage Hills winner in the semi-finals.

Scottsburg, Corydon, North Harrison and South Ridge are all on the other side of the Class 3A Sectional 32 bracket.

There are 313 schools playing in the state tournament with 307 games being played over six weeks.
